Dr Layla Al-Marzouqi
Director for Health tourism council – Dubai Health Authority
Dr Layla Al-Marzouqi is the Director for Health tourism council – Dubai Health Authority. She obtained her degree in medicine and surgery from the Royal College of Surgeon in Ireland and master degree in cardiovascular rehabilitation as a first UAE national to get this degree and executive master in healthcare administration.
Dr Layla was involved in setting the Dubai health strategic plan till 2015 and was in a team, which was formed by his Excellency the director general of Dubai health authority, which was given the duty to transfer Department of health and medical services into Dubai Health authority. She was honored to be involved in formulating UAE anti-tobacco law and in revision of medical liability law of the UAE. She completed a second master in healthcare administration and graduated with distinction from Zayed University-UAE. She was nominated to participate in Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid program for leadership development and was honored by his highness at the end of the program for her great achievement.
Since joining Dubai Health Authority in 2003, she ranged in posts, firstly as Chief of Clinical Governance Office, and then selected to be Director of Health Regulation Department (HRD). Since January 2017, Dr. Layla was appointed in the post of Director of Health Tourism council – DHA.
She has been a speaker in many international regulatory and medical tourism conferences. Her accomplishment extended beyond the UAE border by being a member in a physician information exchange committee, part of international association of medical regulatory authority, being a speaker in many international regulatory conferences and key person in signing a memorandum of understanding with general medical council UK.
