Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) Medical tourism association/cluster in Cheongwon-gun, South Korea

Established in 1999, Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) is a government-affiliated organisation that provides professional support programmes designed both to enhance South Korea’s domestic health industry and to strengthen its competitiveness in the global medical tourism sector.

Since its creation, KHIDI has led the expansion of healthcare and R&D investment in South Korea’s healthcare industry, making the country Asia’s leading healthcare provider with reliable, high quality medical services overseen by the government. The universal healthcare system is based on the principles of growth and redistribution and offers affordable treatment and services.

KHIDI promotes medical tourism services in South Korea through its Medical Korea arm, a group of 40 professionals covering medicine, ethics, insurance and law committed to providing patients with comprehensive and reliable information regarding medical travel. Services available to overseas patients include cancer treatment, orthopaedic surgery and rheumatology, organ transplantation, cardiac and vascular surgery, spinal surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, Korean traditional medicine, cosmetic and plastic surgery, infertility treatment and ENT.

In order to promote South Korean healthcare services abroad and to facilitate the overseas expansion of the Korean Health Industry, KHIDI has established six Global Business Offices: KHIDI-USA, KHIDI-Singapore, KHIDI-China, KHIDI-UK, KHIDI-UAE and KHIDI-Kazakhstan.
