The IMTJ Medical Travel Summit 2016 is attracting some of the brightest talents in medical travel. They’ll share their knowledge, insight and experience of building a sustainable international patient business.

Andre Freitas

Director Operations, Diaverum, Germany

André Freitas, is 41 and from Porto, in Portugal. He holds a MBA from the Superior Institute for Economics and Finance, in Portugal and a Master’s Degree in Human Biology, from Porto University. André has been working at Diaverum for 6 years, combining the roles of Operations and Commercial Director in Area South West Europe (a group of countries comprising Portugal, Spain, Italy and France). On top of that, he has been leading Diaverum’s Holiday Dialysis Programme (d.HOLIDAY) for 5 years.

Within the scope of his activity as global lead for d.HOLIDAY™, the programme has almost tripled the number of renal patients that take a Holiday, despite their dependency of a treatment which is essential for their lives. In 2016 (YTD) Diaverum is recording a growth of >10% in the number of Holiday Dialysis treatment, when compared to 2015. At the 2014 IMTJ Awards, d.HOLIDAY was awarded a special mention for “Best Marketing Initiative in Heath Tourism”. As lead of d.HOLIDAY André has given several talks and led several seminars on the topics of Medical Tourism. He has recently been invited as guest chair for Marketing at Lisbon’s Autonomous University Masters Programme in Healthcare Tourism.

Over the last 15 years André has held different management positions in healthcare services industries, and has ample experience with relationship management at the highest level with policy makers and other health organizations.
