The IMTJ Medical Travel Summit 2016 is attracting some of the brightest talents in medical travel. They’ll share their knowledge, insight and experience of building a sustainable international patient business.

Ilse Bertels

Project co-ordinator, Centre Cardio-Thoracique De Monaco, Monaco

Created by Prof Vincent DOR in 1987, the Cardio-Thoracic Center welcomed Ilse Bertels in 1999.

Her initial artistic background contributed to the opportunity of creating a Public Relations Office in the Center in 2001, she built the office based upon her personal and open hearted touch.

After training as an assistant manager and several language classes, she developed as a communication coordinator, a line of international communication support, and is the direct contact for most outside interaction, being passionate by human nature and in contact with foreign cultures.

Her main functions are: increasing an international network with patients, embassies, consulates, and service companies, developing the personalized service for foreign patients, organizing logistics, negotiating special contracts with hotels in the region, taking care of accompanying families…

Married, mother of 2 teenagers, with a Belgian nationality but an international open mind, she continues various trainings and trips, and is very active in humanitarian causes in Monaco, with national and international projects.
