Kim Waddoup

CEO of Moscow MedShow

Kim-WaddoupBorn and educated in the UK, Kim Waddoup has been an itinerant traveller most of his life and saw the business opportunities that were emerging in the opening of Eastern Europe at the end of the 80’s. He first arrived in Russia in 1992 to find a country in total disarray but offering many potential opportunities for the pioneers. Opening offices in Moscow in 1994 he headed one of the leading travel companies specialising in luxury travel for Russia’s growing nouveau riche. This also included organising medical treatments for leading politicians and personalities way back in the mid 90s.

Seeing a niche market developing he saw the opportunities in offering highly specialised consumer exhibitions and created the aiGroup in 2011. The aiGroup is the market leader in highly targeted B2C exhibitions with a current portfolio of 13 annual events in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

With Medical Tourism experience dating back to the mid 90s, the aiGroup commissioned extensive market research to establish the size and value of the Medical Tourism market from Russia. With figures & statistics backed by leading medical specialists, they established the potential size of the Russian market and launched the Moscow MedShow in 2013 as a specialised exhibition offering International Medical treatment suppliers with the opportunity of meeting directly with a highly targeted consumer audience. The Moscow MedShow quickly grew to be the leading specialised event for Medical Tourism from Russia with 80+ exhibitors meeting with the 3,500 audience of Russian people looking for information and details on treatment abroad.

With the unique opportunity of substantial numbers of potential patients/clients visiting each exhibition, the aiGroup has the opportunity of conducting an extensive survey of the requirements and demands of Russian clients and potential trends. Kim’s speech is based on the only real statistics available in Russia and conveys his own message of advice on how to succeed and how to avoid the pitfalls of working with Russia.
